One physiological difference between Type 1 and Type II diabetes is that Type I diabetes is an autoimmune disease and it directly attacks the beta cells of the pancreas which produces insulin , a hormone which regulates the blood sugar level . The destruction of beta cells in type 1 diabetes causes an insufficient production of insulin. Type 2 diabetes is a chronic disease and it is insulin insufficiency and it occurs when the body becomes resistant to insulin .
